Will “Big Law” ever be the same after the stock market crash of 2008?

Apparently, Layoff Worries Were High Before Market Meltdown, Survey Says http://www.law.com/jsp/ihc/PubArticleIHC.jsp?id=1202425328019

What is your opinion.  Did you, or your firm foresee the downturn?  What were the signs?  How has it changed the way you, or your firm is operating?  No more monthly parties?  They removed the latte machine?  Apparently, at Heller they removed a printer, while people were still using it.  Sounds like an old Three Stooges episode. http://www.abajournal.com/news/new_heller_layoffs_axed_secretary_tells_of_disappearing_copiers

Poor Thelen!  I used to work there back in the day when it was still called Thelen, Marrin, Johnson & Bridges, so I will give full disclosure that I have a special place in my heart for them.  That was before merger mania, and when we used to say ”Uncle Max” [Thelen] was picking up our expenses when we had a party, or catered breakfast every Friday morning.  This was before all “Big Law” brought in full kitchens with free food all day.   I had a lot of good times at Thelen working for them at both their San Jose and Los Angeles offices, but the recent news doesn’t sound good.
